One of my two best friends once stepped into dog poo while I was on the other line and I really don’t remember the details but it was more inconvenient at that certain day than stepping into poo usually is. While I was laughing my ass off on the line, she just calmly talked to herself for a solid minute or two and basically went from ‘are you fuckin kidding me’ to ‘ok nvm could be worse’ and her main argument (for herself) was just 'shit sometimes just happens but that just means that this particular could-happen-anytime-shitty-thing will not happen again anytime soon’. I was very fascinated how she dealt with it and soon started to notice that she handles a lot of situations of plain bad luck and, well, actually everything else bad that happens like that. I got so used to the thought of 'cool, now less likely to happen soon’ (at a maybe more inconvenient time) that I started doing it too without even noticing and I know it’s probably a known coping method but it is a damn good one if you’re suffering from mental health issues or ocds. and it just help so much if you manage to train yourself to keep that mind; especially if you attract bad luck or if you’re a sad pal because guess who’ll actually benefit from keeping a positive attitude.
